Liquid Microneedling: What is it?

We’re talking about a resurfacing treatment that’s making waves (literally, it comes from the sea).

The Green Sea Peel aka liquid microneedling is the glow-up cousin of traditional microneedling and chemical peels, but with a bit more oomph and less downtime. First used in Eastern Europe and Asia, this treatment uses the power of marine sponges to deliver microscopic “needles” (called spicules) into the skin.

These spicules stimulate the skin’s natural exfoliation process and collagen production, help diminish the appearance of fine lines, sunspots, hyperpigmentation, and even acne scars. Oh, and they don’t just correct your skin concerns, they feed your skin too, infusing it with vitamins and nutrients as they go.

How Do They Work?

So, how exactly do these tiny sea spicules in the Green Sea Peel work their magic?

Spicules are naturally occurring microscopic “needles” found in marine sponges. Their structure allows them to create microchannels in the skin as they're gently massaged in. This opens up pathways for deep delivery of all the good stuff your skin craves.

They’re loaded with skin-loving ingredients like zinc (great for healing and calming), linoleic acid (barrier repair), amino acids (the building blocks of skin), and calcium.

As the spicules work their way in, they support your skin's regeneration process. More collagen. More cell turnover. More glow. It’s like giving your skin a mineral-vitamin-rich green juice shot from the sea.

Who Can Do This Treatment?

Great news: since the Green Sea Peel doesn’t rely on acids or harsh chemicals, it’s generally safe for all skin types and Fitzpatrick levels. It’s also a popular option for those who are pregnant, however you must get OB/GYN clearance prior to your treatment.

I especially recommend spicule treatments for anyone dealing with:
Texture issues — rough patches or bumps
Acne and acne-prone skin — spicules help increase blood circulation, creating an oxygenating effect, purging and healing the skin
Acne scarring — those lingering marks? This resurfacing treatment will help
Hyperpigmentation — sunspots and dark marks, be gone
Signs of aging — whether you’re seeing fine lines or just want to stay ahead of the game, this is an amazing preventative

How Do We Prep for This Treatment?

You wouldn’t run a marathon without a little training first, right? Same goes for your skin. Before diving into the deep end with a treatment like the Green Sea Peel, we like to ease your skin into it.

Enter: BioHerb 50.

This is a lighter spicule peel that gets your skin prepped and ready. It sets the stage, boosts your skin’s tolerance, and helps you get the most out of the Green Sea Peel.

Here’s how it works:
1. You'll receive this treatment in the studio during your consultation. We’ll walk you through it step-by-step.
2. Then, you’ll complete the rest of the process at home.
3. For best results, we recommend doing this 2–3 weeks before your Green Sea Peel appointment.

And bonus — BioHerb 50 can totally stand alone as its own treatment too! So if you’re not quite ready for the full-on peel commitment, this one’s a great place to start.
